Thread Standards

• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It seals on an O-ring sitting in the flat face groove, never on the thread.
• ORFS Bulkhead Male – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal on a bulkhead body with a locknut. It seals on the O-ring in the flat face; the bulkhead thread and locknut only clamp the part to the panel.

How to Choose

• On a run tee the odd port sits in the middle of the run and the two matching ports are the ends. It is the opposite layout to a branch tee, so check which one the job needs before you order.
• The bulkhead thread and locknut clamp the part to the panel. They do no sealing.
• All three ports seal on an O-ring in the mating flat face. Nothing on any thread.

Technicians Advice

Mount it through the panel and nip the locknut before any hose goes on. Face seals do not tolerate being loaded off-square while you wrestle the body straight.

• ORFS Bulkhead Male – panel and chassis pass-throughs on late-model machinery built on ORFS – excavators, loaders and truck-mounted equipment where vibration rules out thread-sealed joints.

• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 / ISO 8434-3 O-ring face seal. Parker call this series Seal-Lok. Also written ORFS or flat face.
• ORFS Bulkhead Male – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal, bulkhead style. Often written ORFS BH or O-ring face seal bulkhead. The face seal does the work, the locknut does not.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
