ORFS Swivel Female x Tubeweld Female Straight Weld-On Adaptor

Thread Standards

• ORFS Swivel Female – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It clamps down onto the male flat face O-ring and swivels for alignment.
• Tubeweld Female (weld-on socket) – plain-bore socket sized to a tube OD, joined by welding rather than a thread. It has no seal of its own – the weld is the joint, so the tube must be clean, square and correctly prepared.

How to Choose

• Sized by tube outside diameter, not by thread. Measure the tube with vernier calipers rather than going by what the old fitting says.
• The face seal does the sealing. Nothing on the thread.
• Protect the flat face from spatter, and check it is unmarked before the hose goes on.

Technicians Advice

A flat sealing face is far less forgiving of spatter than a cone. Mask it properly. A single spot of weld splash on that face means the fitting is scrap.

• ORFS Swivel Female – Hose ends on modern high-pressure plant where a cone joint would fret loose under vibration.
• Tubeweld Female (weld-on socket) – fabricated tube runs on machinery builds, tank and reservoir plumbing, and repairs where a threaded connection is not wanted or there is no room for one.
