How to choose

• Match the ring to the BSPP size of the swivel fitting.
• Always replace the retaining ring and the O-ring as a pair – a chewed retaining ring is why the new O-ring failed.

Technicians Advice

When a BSPP swivel starts weeping, most blokes replace the O-ring and stop – but if the retaining ring behind it is cracked or chewed, the new O-ring extrudes into the gap and fails within the week. Pick both out, inspect the groove with a light, and fit the retaining ring first with the O-ring seated in front of it. If rings keep failing on one line, check the hose is not whipping under load – movement works the seal stack loose.
