NPT Tapered Female x JIC 37° Swivel Female 90° Compact Elbow

NPT female one end, JIC swivel female the other, bent 90°. Takes a JIC hose end and lands it on an NPT male nipple with a hard turn in between.

Thread Standards

• NPT Tapered Female – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. It seals on the thread and needs tape or sealant every time.
• JIC 37° Swivel Female – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals on the 37° cone seat and swivels, so the hose is never wound up during assembly.

How to Choose

• Whatever screws into the NPT female must be NPT male, not BSPT. The forms differ and BSPT will split the casting.
• The NPT female needs tape or sealant. The JIC swivel stays dry.
• Both ends are female, so this joins two male-ended parts rather than screwing into a port.

Technicians Advice

Sealant belongs in the NPT end only. If the JIC swivel weeps, strip any tape out and inspect the cone - tape on a cone joint causes leaks rather than curing them, and it usually ends up in a valve spool.

Where You’ll Find It

• NPT Tapered Female – Female side of American pipework, adaptor blocks and gauge manifolds.
• JIC 37° Swivel Female – Hose ends on imported machinery, where the swivel lets the assembly be fitted without winding up the hose.
