Thread Standards

• NPT Tapered Female – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. It seals on the thread and needs tape or sealant every time.

How to Choose

• All three ports are the same size and thread, so it does not matter which way the tee goes in.
• All three joints seal on the thread of the male going in and all three need sealant.
• NPT and BSPT start into each other and then chew out, so identify every male before you fit it.

Technicians Advice

Three tapered joints means three chances to over-tighten and split the socket. Hand tight plus two or three turns at each, and keep the tape back off the first two threads on every male.
