Thread Standards

• NPT Tapered Female – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. It seals on the thread and needs tape or sealant every time.

How to Choose

• All four joints seal on the thread and all four need sealant.
• NPT and BSPT start into each other and then chew out, so identify every male.
• Keep tape back off the first two threads on all four.

Technicians Advice

Four tapered joints means four chances to over-tighten and crack the body. Hand tight plus two or three turns at each, and do the lot on the bench where you can hold it properly.
