NPSM Swivel Female x UNO O-Ring Boss Male Straight Adaptor

NPSM swivel female one end, SAE O-ring boss male the other. Two straight-thread connections, both sealing on something other than the thread, common on American-built equipment.

Thread Standards

• NPSM Swivel Female – ANSI B1.20.1 straight pipe thread with a 60° internal cone. It seals on the cone seat rather than the thread, so it must not be taped.
• SAE O-Ring Boss Male (UNO/UNF) – SAE J1926 / ISO 11926 straight thread O-ring boss. It seals on an O-ring squeezed against the port spotface, not on the thread.

How to Choose

• The NPSM female seals on its internal 30° seat and swivels. The UNO male seals on its O-ring at the port spotface.
• Neither thread does any sealing, so no tape and no sealant on either end.
• Check the UNO port spotface is clean and unmarked before you wind it in.

Technicians Advice

Both ends here look like threads that should take sealant and neither does. If either weeps, the answer is in the seat or the O-ring, not in the tape tin. Pull it apart and look before you reach for anything.

Where You’ll Find It

• NPSM Swivel Female – Gauges, filter heads, sensors and return lines where the joint has to come apart regularly.
• SAE O-Ring Boss Male (UNO/UNF) – Cylinder end caps, pump and valve bosses on US-built plant. Common on Australian-assembled cylinders too, where it is usually called UNO.
