Thread Standards

• NPT Tapered Male – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. It seals on thread interference, so tape or sealant is a must.

How to Choose

• A plug is male and blocks a female port. A cap is female and covers a male end. Work out which one the open connection is before you order.
• Countersunk means the head takes an internal hex key and sits flush or below the port face. Handy where there is no room for a spanner, but you need the right allen key on the truck.
• Tapered thread, so it still needs sealant on the thread.

Technicians Advice

Seat the allen key fully before you put any weight on it. A countersunk plug that rounds out in a live port is a drilling job, and it is always in the worst possible spot.
