How to choose

• Measure the run, then add ten to fifteen per cent. A hose pulled tight is a hose that gets dragged over an edge
• Check the machine, not the hose. This one tops out at 3,275 psi (226 bar), and your pump wants to sit comfortably under that rather than right on it
• Running hot water? Rated to 93°C
• Match the hose to the nozzle and the nozzle to the pump. An undersized hose on a big pump loses you pressure at the head, every metre of the way

Technicians Advice

• Match the nozzle to the pump, then the hose to the nozzle. Most bad jetting results are a nozzle flowing more than the pump can supply. Work out your machine's real litres per minute first, size the nozzle to it, and only then pick the bore that will feed it over the distance.
• Pressure loss over distance is the whole game on jetter hose. A Micro run of 60 m loses a lot more than most operators expect. If the nozzle has gone soft down the line, the fix is a bigger bore, not a bigger pump setting.
• The first two metres take all the damage. At the reel exit and over the manhole lip. Run a leader hose there and replace that instead of a full reel.
• Never pull a jammed hose with the machine running. Kill the pressure first. A hose that lets go under load in a confined space is how people get hurt.
• Wind it back under light tension, not bar tight. Thermoplastic takes a set. A reel wound tight in the sun holds those coils forever and fights you on the next job.
• Flush after sewer work. Grit left inside the hose scours the bore from the inside out, and it is invisible until the day it bursts.
