Metric Stud Male x ORFS Male Straight Adaptor

Metric stud with a soft seal one end, O-ring face seal the other. Puts a flat-face ORFS hose onto a metric port, which is the combination you want where a machine shakes hard.

Thread Standards

• Metric Stud Male – metric straight thread with a captive soft seal. It seals on a bonded washer or O-ring under the stud shoulder, not on the thread.
• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It seals on an O-ring sitting in the flat face groove, never on the thread.

How to Choose

• Both ends seal on soft parts, neither seals on the thread. No tape, no sealant, either end.
• The stud end needs a flat, clean port face for the washer or O-ring to work against.
• ORFS thread size does not tell you the line size. Work to the dash size on the hose end.

Technicians Advice

Two soft seals on one fitting means two things to check before you blame the part. Pull it out, look at the stud washer and the face O-ring, and replace whichever one is flat or nicked. Extra torque on either end makes both worse.

• Metric Stud Male – European valve blocks and manifolds using a metric port with a soft seal under the shoulder.
• ORFS Male – High-pressure, high-vibration circuits on late-model excavators, drill rigs, crushers and forestry gear.
