Metric Light (L) Male x NPT Tapered Male Straight Adaptor

Light series metric 24° cone one end, NPT tapered pipe thread the other. Puts European tube work onto the American ports on filter heads, gauges and pump housings.

Thread Standards

• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light series. It seals on the 24° cone, normally with an O-ring captured in the cone.
• NPT Tapered Male – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. It seals on thread interference, so tape or sealant is a must.

How to Choose

• The NPT end seals on the thread and takes sealant. The metric cone does not, so keep the sealant on one end only.
• NPT and BSPT will start into each other and then tear. Identify the port properly rather than assuming from the size.
• Light series is the lower rated metric range. Match it to the line, not just to the thread that fits.

Technicians Advice

Do the NPT end first, wipe your hands, then handle the metric cone. Sealant carried across on your fingers onto a cone face will pass a pressure test and then seep in service, which is the hardest kind of leak to chase down.

Where You’ll Find It

• Metric Light (L) Male – European-built machinery – Liebherr, Wacker Neuson, Atlas, Sennebogen, Manitou – and imported tube assemblies. Light series suits return, drain and pilot lines.
• NPT Tapered Male – American-built gearboxes, pumps, compressors and older industrial pipework.

• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light (L) series. Parker call this range EO and EO-2, historically branded Ermeto. Also called bite type.
• NPT Tapered Male – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. The dryseal variant is written NPTF.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.
