Metric Light (L) Male x NPT Tapered Male 90° Compact Elbow

European metric one end, American NPT the other, turned 90°. Turns up wherever imported plant has been repaired with whatever was on the shelf, which is most machines after a few years.

Thread Standards

• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light series. It seals on the 24° cone, normally with an O-ring captured in the cone.
• NPT Tapered Male – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. It seals on thread interference, so tape or sealant is a must.

How to Choose

• The NPT end takes tape or sealant. The metric 24° cone stays dry.
• Confirm the metric series before ordering - light here, and heavy is not interchangeable.
• NPT sizes are nominal pipe sizes, so do not size them off a caliper alone.

Technicians Advice

Two different sealing systems on one fitting is where it goes wrong. Tape the NPT end only. If the metric end weeps, pull it apart and look at the cone for a witness mark rather than pulling harder - more torque on a 24° cone just flattens it.

• Metric Light (L) Male – European-built machinery – Liebherr, Wacker Neuson, Atlas, Sennebogen, Manitou – and imported tube assemblies. Light series suits return, drain and pilot lines.
• NPT Tapered Male – American-built gearboxes, pumps, compressors and older industrial pipework.

• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light (L) series. Parker call this range EO and EO-2, historically branded Ermeto. Also called bite type.
• NPT Tapered Male – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. The dryseal variant is written NPTF.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.
