Thread Standards

• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light series. It seals on the 24° cone, normally with an O-ring captured in the cone.
• BSP Parallel Female – BSPP to ISO 228. It needs a bonded washer or a cone seat to seal, because a parallel thread cannot seal on itself.

How to Choose

• A test point tee puts a gauge or sender port into a live line without breaking into it permanently.
• The BSPP test port needs a bonded washer or cone seat on whatever screws into it.
• The two metric ports seal on 24° cones and take no sealant.

Technicians Advice

Cap the test port when nothing is fitted to it. An open gauge port collects grit and water, and the first thing that happens when a gauge finally goes in is that it all gets pushed into the circuit.
