Thread Standards

• Metric Heavy (S) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, heavy series. It seals on the 24° cone and is built for higher pressures than the light series.

How to Choose

• Heavy (S) and light (L) share some thread sizes but the cones and bodies differ. An S fitting will not seal in an L port and the other way around.
• Equal and reducing sizes are stocked, so you can step down through the nipple rather than stacking parts.
• Look into the mating cone before fitting. Some are plain 24° and some carry an O-ring, and the two do not interchange.

Technicians Advice

On heavy series, the cone does the work and the thread just supplies the load. If a joint weeps, take it apart and look at the cone face rather than reaching for a longer bar. A scored or bruised cone will not come good under torque, and the extra load just damages the port as well.
