Thread Standards

• Metric Heavy (S) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, heavy series. It seals on the 24° cone and is built for higher pressures than the light series.

How to Choose

• A plug is male and blocks a female port. A cap is female and covers a male end. Work out which one the open connection is before you order.
• Heavy (S) will not seal in a light (L) port even where the thread starts. Check the series.
• Seals on the 24° cone, so look at the cone face before fitting.

Technicians Advice

On heavy series the cone does the work and the nut only loads it. If the blanked joint weeps, inspect the cone rather than reaching for a longer bar, because a scored cone will not come good under torque.
