How to choose

  • A plug fills a female port or fitting; a cap covers a male end. Male thread showing = you need a cap; open hole = you need a plug.
  • Measure the thread outside diameter and match it to the size column – the dash number in brackets is the thread size in 1/16ths of an inch.
  • Not sure which thread standard you have? Grab the thread identification chart below or call us with a photo.

Technicians Advice

Straight metric threads do not seal themselves: these seat on the countersink or a washer. In alloy housings, torque gently – the Allen key gives you more grunt than an M10 thread in aluminium can take. Two pitches exist for the larger sizes; gauge before you thread.
