How to choose

• Measure the run, then add ten to fifteen per cent. A hose pulled tight is a hose that gets dragged over an edge
• Check the machine, not the hose. This one tops out at 150 psi (10 bar), and your pump wants to sit comfortably under that rather than right on it
• Running hot water? Rated to 60°C
• Cover is a job decision, not a pressure one. Non-marking colours for finished floors and paintwork, dark covers for yards, gravel and anything abrasive

Technicians Advice

• Starved pumps die young. A pressure cleaner needs more litres per minute at the inlet than it puts out the gun. Feeding a 15 L/min machine through a skinny garden hose cavitates the pump and chews the valves - a 3/4" feed is cheap insurance.
• Keep the feed run short and straight. Every metre and every kink on the supply side is flow you never get back.
• Fit a filter at the inlet. Grit through a plunger pump is the single most expensive thing you can do to it.
