JIC 37° Male x ORFS Swivel Female Straight Adaptor

JIC male one end, O-ring face seal swivel female the other. Puts an ORFS hose onto a JIC line, the other half of the JIC-to-ORFS conversion pair.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• ORFS Swivel Female – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It clamps down onto the male flat face O-ring and swivels for alignment.

How to Choose

• Both ends seal on soft or cone faces, never on the thread. No tape, no sealant.
• The ORFS female seals on the ring in the mating flat face. Check it is seated square before you offer it up.
• Work to the dash size on the hose, not the thread size, when picking the ORFS end.

Technicians Advice

If the face seal weeps, look at the O-ring before you touch the spanner. Nine times out of ten it has been nicked going on or left out. Extra torque on a flat face flattens the ring and makes the next attempt harder.

Where You’ll Find It

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
• ORFS Swivel Female – Hose ends on modern high-pressure plant where a cone joint would fret loose under vibration.

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
• ORFS Swivel Female – SAE J1453 / ISO 8434-3 O-ring face seal. Parker series Seal-Lok.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
