JIC 37° Male x Metric Light (L) Male Straight Adaptor

JIC 37° one end, metric light series 24° cone the other. The usual way a JIC hose gets onto the return, drain and pilot lines of European-built machinery without changing the tube work.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light series. It seals on the 24° cone, normally with an O-ring captured in the cone.

How to Choose

• Light (L) series is the lower pressure metric range. Check the circuit before you use it on a pump outlet.
• The 24° metric cone and the 37° JIC cone are close enough to confuse at a glance. Go by which end is metric, not by eye.
• Light and heavy series share some thread sizes. An L body in an S port will start and go nowhere good.

Technicians Advice

Metric 24° joints are usually assembled with an O-ring sitting in the cone. If the old fitting had one and the new one does not, you have the wrong part, not a missing seal you can add later. Check the cone before it goes near the machine.

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
• Metric Light (L) Male – European-built machinery – Liebherr, Wacker Neuson, Atlas, Sennebogen, Manitou – and imported tube assemblies. Light series suits return, drain and pilot lines.

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light (L) series. Parker call this range EO and EO-2, historically branded Ermeto. Also called bite type.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
