JIC 37° Male x Metric Komatsu Male Straight Adaptor

JIC 37° one end, Komatsu metric 30° flare the other. Sized for the Japanese-built excavators and loaders that run the Komatsu-style flare rather than a JIC or a DIN cone.

Brand: Ayrtec – mild steel body with a plated finish, manufactured to the standards listed below.

Watch: How to assemble Hydraulic Hose Fittings Introduction Identification and Guide on JIC thread Type

Thread Standards

  • JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
  • Metric Komatsu Male (JIS metric) – JIS metric 30° flare pattern used by Komatsu. It seals on the 30° flare seat, which is a different angle again to JIC or metric 24°.

How to Choose

  • The Komatsu end is a 30° flare. It is not a JIC 37° and it is not a DIN 24°, even though all three sit in the same size range.
  • Hold the old fitting nose to nose against the new one. Seven degrees does not show on its own but it shows clearly when the two cones are put together.
  • The metric thread on the Komatsu end is coarse compared with a JIC. If it will not start by hand, stop rather than forcing it.

Technicians Advice

This is the fitting that gets mixed up most often in a workshop drawer, because a 30° Komatsu flare and a 37° JIC will both start into the wrong female. It will even hold static pressure on a test. Under load it frets the seat and blows out, so identify it properly at the bench rather than on the machine.

Where You’ll Find It

  • JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
  • Metric Komatsu Male (JIS metric) – Komatsu excavators, dozers and loaders, and other Japanese plant using the JIS metric flare.

Cross-Reference

  • JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
  • Metric Komatsu Male (JIS metric) – JIS metric 30° flare, commonly called Komatsu metric. Not interchangeable with DIN 2353 24° cone or JIC 37°.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.
