JIC Bulkhead Male x NPT Tapered Male Straight Bulkhead Adaptor

A JIC bulkhead body one end and an NPT tapered male the other. Passes through a panel and screws into an American pipe-thread port.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – SAE J514 37° flare on a bulkhead body with a locknut. It seals on the 37° cone at each end; the bulkhead body passes through a panel and is held by a locknut, which does no sealing.
• NPT Tapered Male – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. It seals on thread interference, so tape or sealant is a must.

How to Choose

• The bulkhead thread and locknut clamp the fitting to the panel. They do no sealing, so do not try to cure a leak by tightening the locknut.
• Check your panel hole size and thickness before you order. The body has a set thread length under the shoulder and a thick panel eats it.
• The NPT end seals on the thread and needs sealant. The JIC end seals dry.
• NPT is 60° and BSPT is 55°. Confirm the port before you wind it in.

Technicians Advice

Do the NPT end into its port first, then mount the body through the panel, then the hose. Working out of order means loading a tapered thread while the body is unsupported.

• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – anywhere a line has to pass through a panel, chassis rail, tank wall or guard and be supported there – tractors, harvesters, truck bodies, tank installations and any tidy machine build.
• NPT Tapered Male – American-built gearboxes, pumps, compressors and older industrial pipework.

• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – SAE J514 37° bulkhead. Parker call the 37° range Triple-Lok. The long thread under the cone is for the panel and the locknut, not for sealing.
• NPT Tapered Male – ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 tapered pipe thread. The dryseal variant is written NPTF.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
