Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – SAE J514 37° flare on a bulkhead body with a locknut. It seals on the 37° cone at each end; the bulkhead body passes through a panel and is held by a locknut, which does no sealing.

How to Choose

• On a run tee the odd port sits in the middle of the run and the two matching ports are the ends. It is the opposite layout to a branch tee, so check which one the job needs before you order.
• The bulkhead leg has a long thread and a locknut for the panel. That thread clamps, it does not seal.
• All three ports seal on the 37° cone. Nothing on any thread.

Technicians Advice

Mount the bulkhead through the panel and nip the locknut before you connect any hose. Holding the body still while you tighten a hose onto it is how the panel hole gets chewed and the tee ends up crooked.

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – anywhere a line has to pass through a panel, chassis rail, tank wall or guard and be supported there – tractors, harvesters, truck bodies, tank installations and any tidy machine build.

Cross-Reference

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – SAE J514 37° bulkhead. Parker call the 37° range Triple-Lok. The long thread under the cone is for the panel and the locknut, not for sealing.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
