Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – SAE J514 37° flare on a bulkhead body with a locknut. It seals on the 37° cone at each end; the bulkhead body passes through a panel and is held by a locknut, which does no sealing.

How to Choose

• On a branch tee the two in-line ports carry the main flow and the third port comes off the side at 90°. Get that the wrong way round and the tee physically will not fit the run.
• The bulkhead leg has a long thread and a locknut for the panel. That thread does no sealing, only clamping.
• All three ports seal on the 37° cone. No tape and no sealant anywhere on this part.

Technicians Advice

Get the bulkhead through the panel and the locknut nipped up before you connect the hoses, not after. Trying to hold the body still while you tighten a hose onto it is how the panel hole gets chewed out and the tee ends up crooked.

• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – anywhere a line has to pass through a panel, chassis rail, tank wall or guard and be supported there – tractors, harvesters, truck bodies, tank installations and any tidy machine build.

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
• JIC 37° Bulkhead Male – SAE J514 37° bulkhead. Parker call the 37° range Triple-Lok. The long thread under the cone is for the panel and the locknut, not for sealing.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
