90° elbows are the tight-space workhorse – they turn a connection hard against a wall, ram or chassis rail where a straight fitting plus bent hose simply will not fit.

Aim the elbow before final torque – on bonded-washer ends the last quarter turn sets both seal and direction, so start the washer with the elbow pointing about 30° short of where you want it. Never spring the hose to meet the fitting; if the hose loads the elbow sideways it will loosen and weep. Elbows are the biggest single pressure-drop item in a fitting chain – on high-flow lines use two 45s or a swept path instead of stacking 90s.
