Thread Standards

• SAE Code 62 Flange – SAE J518 Code 62 high-pressure split flange. It seals on a face O-ring and uses a heavier, tighter bolt pattern for high pressure.

How to Choose

• A flange plug blanks the port; the split flange halves and four bolts do the clamping.
• Code 62 has a different bolt pattern and a thicker head than Code 61. They do not interchange.
• Seals on the O-ring in the flange face.

Technicians Advice

Even, staged tightening in a cross pattern on all four bolts. At Code 62 pressures a cocked plug does not just weep, it lets go, and a blanking plug leaving a port under pressure is not something to be standing near.
