Thread Standards
- SAE Code 61 Flange – SAE J518 Code 61 standard-pressure split flange. It seals on an O-ring captured in the flange head face, clamped by four bolts.
How to Choose
- A flange plug blanks the port itself. The split flange halves and four bolts still do the clamping.
- Seals on the O-ring in the flange face. Nothing on the bolts or the face beyond the ring.
- Code 61 and Code 62 are not interchangeable. Code 62 is higher pressure with a different bolt pattern.
Technicians Advice
Pull the four bolts up evenly and in a cross pattern, in stages. Cocking a flange plug on one corner pinches the O-ring, and on a blanked port nobody notices the weep until there is oil on the floor.
