Technicians Advice

The jacket on an encapsulated ring is tough against chemicals but it does not like being stretched over sharp threads – walk the ring over the thread with clean hands or a smooth tool, never a screwdriver blade. The jacket is also slipperier and stiffer than rubber, so the joint needs a clean, undamaged groove to seal; these rings will not bed into a scarred face the way soft nitrile does.
