You lift with a jack. You hold with cribbing. The rule that matters: a hydraulic cylinder is a lifting device, never a supporting one. A seal can pass, a hose can be knocked, a valve can weep – and the load comes down. Crib as you lift, in short steps, and never put a hand or a body under something held only by oil pressure.

Cribbing blocks stack and interlock to build a tower. Wedges and step chocks take up the last few millimetres and stop a wheel or a load rolling. Jack pads and crib pads spread the point load so the jack or the crib does not punch through soft ground, bitumen or a trailer floor.
