Comet TWS9030S Belt Drive Triplex Pump - 35 L/min, 3,000 psi

The TWS is the 1,750 rpm version of the TW, built for two pole electric motors and for anyone chasing more flow out of the same frame. Same crankcase and plunger design, geared to spin faster, which is why it makes bigger numbers than a TW of the same physical size.

The Comet TWS9030S delivers 35 L/min at 3,000 psi running at 1,750 rpm, with a 24mm solid shaft.

Technicians Advice

• Starve a plunger pump and you will kill it. These want a flooded inlet or a gravity feed. A long, thin or half collapsed suction hose cavitates the pump, and you hear it as a rattle long before you see it as pitted plungers and a shredded seal kit.
• The unloader does more damage than the pump ever will. Long spells in bypass heat the water, and hot water in a bypass loop cooks the seals. If the operator sits on the trigger lock with the gun shut, run the bypass back to tank rather than round a loop.
• Change the oil early and often. First change at about 50 hours to clear the run-in debris, then every 500. Milky oil means water has got past the seals - that is the pump telling you the seal kit is due, not that it has failed.
• Belt tension is a setting, not a guess. Too loose and you glaze the belt and lose flow under load; too tight and you side load the crankshaft bearing. Aim for about 10 to 15 mm deflection at the middle of the span under firm thumb pressure.
• Water quality decides seal life more than hours do. Bore and recycled wash bay water carries grit that laps the ceramic plungers. A 50 mesh inlet filter is the cheapest insurance you will ever fit.
• Never run it dry, not even briefly. The water is the lubricant and the coolant for the plunger seals. Priming a dry pump with the gun shut is how a new pump becomes a warranty argument.
