
A subplate is what a Cetop valve actually bolts to. It carries the four ports — A, B, P and T — and converts the valve's machined face into threaded connections you can put a fitting into.
Side ports bring the hoses out horizontally, which suits a valve mounted flat on a frame or a tank top. Rear ports come out the back, which is neater where the subplate is bolted to a vertical panel and you want the pipework behind it.

The BEC versions save you a valve. They have the relief built into the subplate, so a single-function power pack needs nothing else between the pump and the directional valve.
