A BSP swivel female in the middle with a BSPT male at each end. Puts a hose take-off into a threaded BSP run without twisting it.

Thread Standards

• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the tapered thread itself, so it needs PTFE tape or a liquid thread sealant.
• BSP Swivel Female – BSPP to ISO 228 with a 60° internal cone seat. It seals on the cone and swivels, so it needs no tape or sealant.

How to Choose

• On a run tee the odd port sits in the middle of the run and the two matching ports are the ends. It is the opposite layout to a branch tee, so check which one the job needs before you order.
• The two tapered males seal on the thread and need sealant. The swivel female seals on its cone and does not.
• Do the tapered ends first, then wipe your hands before touching the cone.

Technicians Advice

Sealant carried onto the swivel cone is the classic tee mistake. It passes a pressure test and seeps in service. Two ends sealed, one clean, and clean hands in between.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Tapered Male – Older Australian and British pipework, gauge ports, tank and return lines, and cast pump and gearbox housings.
• BSP Swivel Female – Hose ends across Australian-built assemblies, and anywhere a joint has to be broken and remade repeatedly.

• BSP Swivel Female – BSPP body to ISO 228 with a 60° cone seat. Commonly called a BSP swivel or BSP female cone seat.
