How to choose
- Pick the thread or standpipe size the finished connection needs, then weld to suit.
- Weld nipples suit tank walls and manifold blocks; standpipes give a tube-standard end.
- Order a spare – a botched weld is cheaper to replace than to rescue.

Technicians Advice
Prep beats torque on a weld fitting: protect the sealing face and threads before you strike an arc – a thread full of spatter is scrap. Weld in short runs to keep distortion out of the seal face, let it cool naturally, and clean every trace of scale out of the bore afterwards; one flake of slag will end a pump or score a spool. Test the joint at working pressure before the tank goes back in service.
