BSP Parallel Male x ORFS Swivel Female Straight Adaptor

BSP parallel male one end, O-ring face seal swivel female the other. Puts a flat-face ORFS hose onto a BSPP port, which is the pairing you want where a machine shakes hard.

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.
• ORFS Swivel Female – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It clamps down onto the male flat face O-ring and swivels for alignment.

How to Choose

• The ORFS female seals on the O-ring in the mating flat face. Check that ring is seated square before you offer it up.
• The BSPP male seals on a bonded washer or a cone in the port. Two different methods on one part.
• ORFS thread size and line size are different numbers. Go by the dash size on the hose.

Technicians Advice

If the face seal weeps, pull it apart and look at the O-ring before touching the spanner. Nine times out of ten it has been nicked going on or left out. More torque on a flat face just flattens the ring.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• ORFS Swivel Female – Hose ends on modern high-pressure plant where a cone joint would fret loose under vibration.
