A BSP parallel male in the middle of the run with a JIC male at each end. Feeds a BSPP port from a JIC line running past it.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.

How to Choose

• On a run tee the odd port sits in the middle of the run and the two matching ports are the ends. It is the opposite layout to a branch tee, so check which one the job needs before you order.
• The BSPP port needs a bonded washer or a cone seat. The two JIC ends seal dry on their cones.
• Keep sealant off both JIC cones.

Technicians Advice

Get the BSPP leg seated in its port before you bring the hoses on. Once both JIC ends are connected you have nothing clean to hold while you correct the middle.

Where You’ll Find It

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228 / BS 2779, written G. Also called BSP parallel or gas thread.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
