BSP Parallel Male x BSP Tapered Female Straight Adaptor

Parallel BSP male one end, tapered BSP female the other. The converter for the awkward case where a BSPP fitting has to go into a line built around BSPT.

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.
• BSP Tapered Female – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the thread interference and must be taped or sealed.

How to Choose

• Two different BSP families on one part. Parallel seals on a washer or cone, tapered seals on the thread with sealant.
• Do not treat both ends the same. Sealant belongs on the tapered end only.
• BSPT and BSPP share thread sizes and pitches but not sealing method, which is exactly why this adaptor exists.

Technicians Advice

Wind the tapered female onto its male hand tight plus two or three turns and stop. A tapered joint wedges as it goes, and chasing a weep with more torque splits the female rather than sealing it.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• BSP Tapered Female – Female side of local pipework, adaptor blocks and gauge manifolds.
