Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.

How to Choose

• All three ports are the same size and thread, so it does not matter which way the tee goes in.
• A parallel thread does not seal on itself. Each of the three joints needs a bonded washer or a 60° cone seat.
• Do not wind a BSPT female onto it. A parallel male bottoms in a tapered female and leaves a gap you cannot close.

Technicians Advice

Three joints, three fresh bonded washers. The one people skip is the port facing away from them once the tee is in, and that is exactly the one that weeps. Do the whole thing on the bench.

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
