Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.

How to Choose

• A plug is male and blocks a female port. A cap is female and covers a male end. Work out which one the open connection is before you order.
• Countersunk means the head takes an internal hex key and sits flush or below the port face. Handy where there is no room for a spanner, but you need the right allen key on the truck.
• Still needs a bonded washer or cone seat. Countersunk changes the head, not the sealing method.

Technicians Advice

Countersunk plugs get rounded out by a worn allen key more than any other fitting, because there is no flat to grab if the socket goes. Use a good key, seated fully, and do not run it in on a rattle gun.

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
