BSP Parallel Female x Metric Heavy (S) Male Straight Adaptor

BSP parallel female one end, heavy series metric 24° cone male the other. Lets a European S series tube run terminate in a BSPP port on Australian or British-built gear.

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Female – BSPP to ISO 228. It needs a bonded washer or a cone seat to seal, because a parallel thread cannot seal on itself.
• Metric Heavy (S) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, heavy series. It seals on the 24° cone and is built for higher pressures than the light series.

How to Choose

• The BSPP female needs a bonded seal washer or a 60° cone in the mating male. A parallel thread does not seal on itself.
• The metric end is heavy (S) series. An S body will not seal in a light (L) port even where the thread starts.
• Check the mating 24° cone for a captured O-ring before you fit. Plain and O-ring cones both exist on the same machine.

Technicians Advice

On the BSPP side, a fresh bonded washer every time. On the metric side, the cone does the sealing and the nut only supplies the load. If it weeps, look at the cone face before you reach for a longer bar.
