BSP Banjo x JIC 37° Male Straight Adaptor

A BSP banjo eye with a JIC male outlet. Takes a JIC hose off a banjo joint where there is no room for a conventional fitting.

Thread Standards

• BSP Banjo (eye fitting) – a drilled eye that a banjo bolt passes through, with the port thread on the bolt. It seals on a bonded washer either side of the eye, squeezed by the banjo bolt – two washers, not one.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.

How to Choose

• The banjo eye needs a bolt and two bonded washers, which are separate items. Check you have them before you start.
• The JIC end seals dry on its 37° cone.
• The eye swivels on the bolt until the bolt is tightened, which is the whole point of a banjo.

Technicians Advice

Set the eye angle first, then tighten the bolt, then connect the hose. Doing the hose first means you are twisting the eye against a part-tightened bolt and the washers never seat evenly.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Banjo (eye fitting) – tight installations where a hose has to leave a port at a set angle and there is no room to swing a fitting – brake and clutch lines, compressors, and cramped valve blocks.
• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.

Cross-Reference

• BSP Banjo (eye fitting) – Banjo / eye fitting to BSP. The eye swivels on the bolt until the bolt is tightened, which is why it suits awkward angles.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
