How to choose

• Measure the run, then add ten to fifteen per cent. A hose pulled tight is a hose that gets dragged over an edge
• Check the machine, not the hose. This one tops out at 4,000 psi (276 bar), and your pump wants to sit comfortably under that rather than right on it
• Running hot water? Rated to 100°C
• Cover is a job decision, not a pressure one. Non-marking colours for finished floors and paintwork, dark covers for yards, gravel and anything abrasive

Technicians Advice

• Rate the hose to the unloader, not the plate on the machine. An unloader dumping to bypass spikes above the machine's rated pressure. This hose is good for 4,000 psi continuous.
• Most hoses die at the ferrule. The failure is a fold 50 mm behind the fitting from dragging the hose round a corner. Bend restrictors on both ends are the cheapest life extension going.
• Never clamp-repair a burst hose. Once the reinforcement lets go the length is scrap - a barb and clamp on 4,000 psi water is a real injection-injury risk.
• Long runs cost pressure. Roughly 5% loss per 15 m at full flow. Soft at the gun on a long run means step up a bore, not wind up the unloader.
• UV kills covers. Stored on a reel out of the sun, a hose lasts about twice as long as one living in an open ute tray.
