316 Stainless Steel JIC Male Plug

A solid 316 stainless JIC 37° Male plug for blanking off ports on pumps, valves, manifolds and blocks. It will not rust into the port in salt air or washdown areas.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, no tape or sealant.

How to Choose

• Match the thread form first (BSPT or JIC), then the size.
• Measure the thread outside diameter and compare it to the size chart if the port is unmarked.
• Tapered plugs need sealant. JIC plugs seal on the 37° cone and take none.

Technicians Advice

A tapered stainless plug is the easiest thing in the shop to over-tighten. Two to three turns past hand tight with sealant on the thread is plenty. Crank it further and you either gall it into the port or crack a cast housing. Keep one of each size in the van for blanking a pump or valve port while you are chasing a fault.
